Officers who are asked to take drug tests due to informant tips are basically accused of illicit drug use, and that alone will tarnish their records. This will be a dilemma considering that the city has rather stringent protection policies for confidential informants. The current set-up leaves officers vulnerable to nuisance accusers who simply want to do away with them for a few days or to those who want to damage their records.
