Emergency Antibody Method Being Tested For H1N1A For the past week, teams in Chicago and Katherina have been stocking up on supplies and waiting for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to send them samples of blood from Mexican swine flu patients in hopes of creating an antibody to ward off the new strain of the flu virus. The journal Nature published a study last year about Wilson and Trever where they sho that with only a few tablespoons of blood, they were able to make influenza antibodies in as little as a month. Last researchers at CDC asked the researchers to. The specially engineered antibodies are immune system proteins that attach to invaders such as viruses and in effect able to neutralize the particular strain of influenza. The hope is that these antibodies would be useful in protecting frontline workers and other high-risk persons to ward off the flu until a vaccine could be made should a pandemic arise. Patrick Wilson of the University of Chicago and fellow vaccine expert Dani Guillaume of Moritz University in Atlanta, hope to develop a method to quickly make infection-fighting proteins called monoclonal antibodies. | specimen collection container / bowl polypropylene specimen container, type o r sterile in peel pack, quantity box of globe scientific specimen transport bag, 6 x 9, pack of graham field sponge bowl, 6 1/2 x 3, 1 3/8 qts medical illumination sterilizable handle for system one surgery lights graham field solution bowl, stainless steel graham field sponge bowl, 5 3/4 x 2 1/2, 1 qt capacity graham field sponge bowl, 7 3/8 x 3, 1 7/8 qts capacity specimen collection cup with thermometer graham field sponge bowl, 4 1/4 x 2, 12 oz capacity 105 ml specimen collection cups specimen collection unit, quantity box of grafco speculum set for otoscope 1227-1, pack of grafco 12 autoclavable chain bib holder, pack of grafco specula for otoscope / ophthalmoscope set 8700 and 8808, pack of |
