The current set-up leaves officers vulnerable to nuisance accusers who simply want to do away with them for a few days or to those who want to damage their records. The Union may be protecting one of their own at the expense of its informers. They have no issues against random drug testing for police officers, but are specifically concerned about testing specific individuals on the basis of tips from informants.
