The Kansas House voted in favor of the proposal, 99-26, passing the bill on to the Senate for consideration. Recipients who test positive will be provided with treatment for their addiction. After three failed tests, however, the recipient will no longer be eligible for cash assistance.

Each state has its own unique terms for the conduct of random testing, and for Kansas, the testing is to be administered to citizens who are receiving cash assistance from the state.
